About The Mad Scene

The Mad Scene is Singapore's only publication dedicated to opera, classical singers, choirs and musicals. It is run by four opera enthusiasts located in Singapore. Since we spend all our time discussing the beauty of the Divas, we came up with the idea of creating this blog to pen our thoughts down, sharing with everyone who cares to know our love for the art as well as its relevance in these parts of the world. The Mad Scene hopes to be an invaluable community resource for lovers of opera and classical singing in Singapore and the region.

salome.jpg

Salome, daughter of Herodias, is a pretty 16-year old girl who loves opera with blood and gore. Among her favorites are Salome (of course), Elektra, Donizetti's Lucia and the "Three Queens" operas, Verdi's Macbeth and Nabucco. However, she has some weird choices too, like Madama Butterfly (although she wished that Cio Cio San had used her sword on dear Pinkerton instead). She likes good boys and cannot appreciate ah bengs. She has abandoned dancing and has taken up piano instead (therefore look out for some reviews on piano recordings and concerts!). She admits that she still has a lot of growing up to do......
