The Metropolitan Festival Orchestra Honours Team Singapore Athletes and Team Nila volunteers

The Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, main organiser for the upcoming Disney on Classic ~ A Magical Night concerts, invited members of Team Singapore and volunteers of Team Nila to catch the most successful live orchestral show in the Disney franchise in recognition of their outstanding sporting achievements at the recently concluded Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2015. To honour the tremendous contributions of the athletes, coaches, sports officers, and volunteers, the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra presented Team Singapore and Team Nila with 40 tickets for our athletes from the rhythmic gymnastics teams as well as the volunteer photographers of Team Nila, the volunteer arm of SportSG.

Competing in disciplines with an aesthetic performance element, Singapore’s gymnasts are not just athletes, but performers in their own right as well. Besides bringing in the historic gold medal in the sport of rhythmic gymnastics, these athletes have managed to connect, inspire, and entertain Singaporeans through their sporting performances. Being performers themselves, albeit in a different domain, the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra shares in these athletes’ vision of inspiring and bringing people together through their performances, and invites them to join in striving towards this vision through Disney on Classic ~ A Magical Night.

“Team Singapore’s incredible success at the recent SEA Games stems from the immense collective effort of everyone from Team Singapore; not just the athletes but including the coaches, the management team and volunteers as well,” said Dr Kevin Koh, Executive Producer at the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra. “We would thus like to invite them to enjoy an evening with us at Disney on Classic ~ A Magical Night, in honour of their contributions in the sporting arena and in bringing Singaporeans together through their sporting performances. Hopefully, other members of the Singapore community can join in to recognise and honour our Team Singapore’s achievements in their own ways.”

“This is a wonderful and thoughtful gesture by the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra,” said Ann Sim, Team Captain of the 28th SEA Games Rhythmic Gymnastics team. “I thank them for their support and look forward to celebrating what we have achieved at the Games with an enjoyable evening with my team mates.”
