LOTR: The Two Towers Live - 6 and 7 June 2014

Catch this movie screening with a live orchestra and chorus performing the iconic score. In my opinion nothing beats the sound of live unamplified music making (even with minimal electronic enhancement), which I'm sure will greatly enhance the epic film even for the seasoned fan. British soprano Rosalind Waters replaces Renee Fleming's solo part in the original soundtrack. More details below:

Performed Live with Full Movie on Giant Screen

The Metropolitan Festival Orchestra announces that it will be presenting the most anticipated orchestral event of the year The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers on 6 and 7 June 2014 at The Star Theatre, The Star Performing Arts Centre. This will be an Asian Premiere.

This is a continuation of a journey that started 12 months ago with The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, which was attended by more than 7,000 audience members, the highest number for any single orchestra-based concert production in Singapore in 2013.

American conductor Justin Freer returns to Singapore with vocalist Rosalind Waters to partner with the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, the Vocal Associates Festival Chorus and Children’s Choir and boy soprano Samuel Yuen to present this landmark concert production. Justin Freer: "It is with great pleasure that I am able to return to Singapore to work with the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra in the next installment of Peter Jackson's and Howard Shore's masterpiece, The Two Towers. One of the brilliant film scores in our repertoire performed live on stage and synchronized to one of the great films from our craft will be a concert to remember."

Audiences will be able to relive the awesome experience of immersing themselves in the full-length Academy Award-winning motion picture projected on a giant cinematic screen complete with original dialogue and sound effects, while Howard Shore’s iconic soundtrack score is performed live by the 250 musicians of a full orchestra and chorus. This year, to reach out to even more audiences and make the performances more accessible to the general public, ticket prices have been reduced by as much as 30% from last year, while more seats have been made available for public purchase.

Dr Kevin Koh, Executive Producer of the MFO: “We are delighted and honoured to be the first Asian orchestra to be presenting the second instalment of this epic production. The response to The Fellowship of the Ring last year was overwhelming, and we have been inundated with questions about bringing The Two Towers to Singapore ever since. We're proud to announce that we have managed to do this, and look forward to creating another fantastic experience for our audiences this year. As the MFO matures in its second year as Singapore’s first and only fully-independent professional orchestra, these Lord of the Rings concerts reflect our vision to present orchestral performances that connect, inspire and entertain.”
