My Fair Lady, Grease and Peter Pan at MBS

Most of you would have seen the ads for My Fair Lady by now, but do you know what's coming up after? Check out our exclusives right here!

My Fair Lady - 11 Feb 2014

Henry Higgins, Eliza Doolittle and the rest of the iconic characters from My Fair Lady will transform the Master Card Theatres at Marina Bay Sands to 1912 London in this Broadway Classic. Hailed as the standard by which all other musicals are judged, BASE Entertainment Asia and MediaCorp VizPro International brings this international treasure, upon which the classic 1964 Audrey Hepburn movie was based, to Singapore on February 11 for a limited season. Tickets are now on sale.

Based on George Bernard Shaw’s 1912 play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady will transport audiences to Edwardian London and one of the most beautiful stories ever told about language and clash of cultures. It follows the relationship between Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl, and the snobbish and misogynistic Professor Henry Higgins, a phoneticist, who wagers that he can turn Eliza into a “proper lady’ in three months’ time. Those who experience My Fair Lady will be enchanted by this tale of triumph of the human spirit, as well as the love story that emerges between two unlikely heroes, ultimately joined together by their fascination with the English language.

When the show first opened on Broadway in 1956, starring Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews, critics described it a “legendary” and “one of the greatest musicals of the century.” My Fair Lady went on to win six TONY Awards, and, in 1961, became the longest-running production in Broadway history at that time.

MY FAIR LADY features book and lyrics by Alan Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, and includes the classic songs “The Rain In Spain,” Wouldn’t It Be Loverly” and “Get Me To The Church On Time.” Often called “the perfect musical,” My Fair Lady is an unforgettable experience with beautiful music and exquisite costumes that will remind theatre-goers as to why musical theatre was born.

The US National Tour of My Fair Lady features Aurora Florence as Eliza Doolittle; Chris Carsten as Henry Higgins; Daniel Cardenes as Freddy Eynsford-Hill; Ricard Springle as Colonel Pickering and Arthur Wise as Alfred P. Doolittle.

Grease - Opens on 25 April 2014

The new multi-million dollar musical GREASE will blaze into town in 2014 direct from London’s West End and a sensational sell-out tour of Australia and open at the MasterCard® Theatres at Marina Bay Sands on 25 April.

This rockin musical production is packed with explosive energy and features a spectacular international cast, super-slick dance moves, dazzling costumes and all those unforgettable songs from the hit movie, including Summer Nights, Sandy, Hopelessly Devoted To You, You’re The One That I Want, Greased Lightnin’ and Grease Is The Word.

Since the show’s Broadway premiere in 1972, and the first London production opened 6 months later with a young, unknown Richard Gere as Danny Zuko, the stage production was then followed by the 1978 hit movie starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, which went on to become the highest grossing movie-musical of all time. GREASE has since triumphed across the globe, with its irresistible mix of adolescent angst, vibrant physicality and 1950s pop culture.

GREASE really is “fast, furious and thrilling, an injection of raw energy… and fun, fun, fun.”
(The Daily Mirror, UK)

GREASE, written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, is possibly the only hit Broadway musical ever composed entirely on guitar. The productions name comes from the term greasers, a 1950s United States working-class youth subculture. GREASE takes place in and around fictitious Rydell High, and follows ten working-class teenagers in 1959 as they experience the intricacies of love, friendship and rebellion. The story revolves around the relationship between “bad boy” Danny Zuko, who believes he is the coolest of cool and “girl next door” Sandy.

So dust off your leather jacket, pull on your bobby-socks and take a trip to a simpler time as the MasterCard® Theatre is turned into Rydell High School in a stage show that is truly ELECTRIFYIN !
